Everyone loves puppy chow, aka: the Chex Muddy Buddies. Seriously, I've never had anyone turn it down.
It's fast and easy. The hard part is not eating the entire batch all at once. Around the holidays, package some up real cute and it makes a great little gift or party favor.
The link above is to the recipe, and you can find it on the box of Rice Chex, but I'll re-post it here:
Chex Muddy Buddies
9 c. rice chex
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. butter
1 t. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. |
That's all it takes!

I've never had puppy chow, but if I could get my hands on some chex, it would be up there on my list, besides breakfast of course!
I love puppy chow but have learned I have no self control around it. Mmm, now I want some :)
I love that stuff. It must be one of the best snack food combinations, ever?!
